Harvesting of healthy adult salmon from the Cork, Ireland site demonstrated that the technical innovation from Niri produces superior results.

The test facility was located near Cork in the Southwest of Ireland. It was constructed in 2010 by Niri under the supervision of Arve Gravdal and his team who spent most of their time in 2011 at this facility. The test phase was completed in late 2011.

The test project consisted of one test tank 10 meters in diameter. The tank was representative of the latest technology breakthroughs in Niri. A complete recirculation system was integrated and the water quality was monitored through several months to test the technologies and aquatic environment.

Salmon was introduced into the tanks in 2011. The fish feeding and rearing proceeded according to plan, thus confirming the validity of the technological advances Niri has developed. The test project gave proof of concept in terms of complete control of the aquatic environment, water quality, oxygen supply and CO2 stripping. Fish were harvested through the autumn of 2011.
